Brief history

The Department of Procedural Law was established and began to function as part of the Faculty of Law of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University on 1 September 2004 under the name of the Department of Justice. From September 2014 to the present, the Department has been headed by Doctor of Law, Professor O. Shcherbaniuk.

Since its foundation, the department has employed many renowned scholars and practitioners who have contributed to its formation and development.

In 2018, by the decision of the Academic Council of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, the name of the Department of Justice was changed to the Department of Procedural Law.

Activities

An important area of the department’s activity is participation in monitoring the application of procedural legislation and analysis of judicial and legal reform in Ukraine.

The Department maintains fruitful creative relations with leading law schools and research institutions of Ukraine, and cooperates within the framework of the Memorandum with the German-Ukrainian Bar Association, the Pravo-Justise project, and the OSCE.
